Actions and results of today:
1. When we arrived at Bleien encoder was working again. Nevertheless we
decided to replace the azimuth encoder
with support from Patrick Gomez and Edi Roth. It took 2h x 3 people
climbing up and down several times.
Calibration of encoder was performed with Sun radio radiation. Now the
System is working as before,
5m parked at 172.9°/60° and 7m tracking Cygnus A.
2. Both rotten power distribution sockets 5m and 7m were replaced.
3. Spare digital interface ADAM-4053 successfully device address
programmed with checksum option for 5m
Software will be installed later this week by remote access on pavo (see ADAM) for future
programming needs.
3. New needs/requests:
- Old fire extinguisher should be replaced or updated.
- >4 bolts M4 x 15 inbus for encoder fixation 5m including washer (all
stainless steel). Patrick knows what.
- Several missing inbus tools need to be replaced, Patrick took photo
- Aluminium strip to better close cats-door, data provided to Patrick
- 2 new defroster (tiny oven) for 5m and 7m to keep electronics
acceptable warm in winter. Old ones started to burn.
- Chocolate box is empty ...
4. Windows updates stalled till 15.12.2022.

Actions and results:
1) Taking into account of next drone-flight the risk is too high that we
do not get the gear repaired until Dec. 8th.
Therefore I decided to just fill up new oil into azimuth gear and
postpone repair after any drone-flight.
Without gear we have no control of the telescope.
After finishing this task the azimuth encoder started to lie again. Time
was too short to replace it in the dark.
Action planned for Wednesday Nov. 16. 13:00+
2) Oil inside tower was cleaned and new oil has been delivered to Bleien
3) Blocked radio monitors CALLISTO restarted to monitor 7m radio signals
after unplanned restart of computer
4) Wind-monitor is operational again. Reason: After an unplanned
automatic restart computer got
the impression that the wind-signals look like a mouse-signal and
connected the wind-monitor to the mouse-interface.
It was therefore not possible to login on site. Solution: Power off for
USB-Interface and PC restart.
Now mouse as well as wind-monitor are back in operation
5) Air-conditioning reduced to 19°C and heater activated
6) new anti-mice cookies distributed, no dead mice found (yet)
7) New needs:
- Replacement of very old power sockets in 5m and 7m tower. Requires
electrician
- Kind of aluminium plate to secure cats-door (will discuss with Patrick)
- 2 circular mounting adapter for new antenna feeds
- New mounting plate for 7m (drawing sent to Patrick) + update of the 5m
mounting plate
- Close all tubes entering the shed to prevent mice entering the shed.
8) Homework for me to program address of digital interface ADAM-4053
Requires appropriate software and some training. I did it last time
about 20 years back...
